The City of Worcester Decorative and Fine Arts Society, (CoWDFAS), is a local society.  Our  lectures  take place at the , Merriman's Hill, in Worcester, on the second  Tuesday of the month between September and June, when a variety of lectures is presented. (In  December, the lecture may be on the first Tuesday to enable rehearsals for a School production to take place).  There is a socialising period before the lecture, commencing at 7:30pm , and the lectures commence at 8:00pm . The lectures are nominally one hour in duration, and are followed by an opportunity to raise questions.  The session is generally over by 9:15 to 9:30pm .

Our lecturers are of national and international standing and lecture on all aspects of decorative and fine arts.  They have to satisfy a NADFAS vetting group before  they are able to lecture to member societies, so the standard is consistently good.

During the course of the year, we also hold Days of Special Interest, Visits and  Cultural Tours which are frequently to an overseas destination of cultural interest to the members, such as St Petersburg in Russia ,  Jordan including Petra , Mexico City and various other sites, Berlin and Dresden in Germany , Italy where we enjoyed the Art and Palladian villas, from our base on Lake Garda. Our most recent tours were to Norfolk in June to enjoy their history and historic houses and finally to vie the art and palaces of Vienna in  late September 2011.

CoWDFAS has sub-groups involved in the conservation of textiles and books - the Heritage Volunteers - and a group involved in the production of detailed records of the contents of places of worship - the Church Recorders.

As a part of our role in encouraging public interest in the decorative and fine arts, we contribute to arts projects in our local schools and charitable organisations, in support of a national NADFAS scheme entitled "Young Arts".
